Subsequent review in the outpatient clinic

Before patients leave hospital after surgery, an appointment will be made to visit the surgical team in St Mark’s outpatients department. This is normally two weeks to two months after discharge home. Here the recovery will be assessed and if necessary further treatment will be discussed. There is also the opportunity to discuss the surgery and the results of the microscopic assessment of any bowel removed (histology). Patients may also need to meet one of the specialist nurses at this clinic visit for follow up.
