Dr Ailsa Hart from St Mark’s featured on the BBC4 TV programme “Guts: The Strange and Mysterious World of the Human Stomach” at 9pm last Thursday (12th July 2012). In particular she discussed the novel research that St Mark’s is undertaking with the Antigen Presentation research Group,
Imperial College using faecal transplantation as a treatment for refractory pouchitis. She discussed that a pilot study is being performed at St Mark’s using faecal transplantation in patients with difficult pouchitis and that assessment is being made of microbiological, immunological and of course clinical changes that occur as a result of the treatment.
