St Mark's Hospital - an international multidisciplinary centre of excellence for the care of people with intestinal and colorectal disorders.

The aim of the Burdett Institute is to improve the health and wellbeing of people with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders by promoting excellence in GI nursing education, research and practice.

Objectives of the Burdett Institute

1. People with GI disorders will have easy access to the evidence based information which they want in a variety of formats and tailored to diverse levels of understanding

2. GI nurses will have easy access to evidence based information on which to base their clinical care of patients with GI disorders

3. GI nurses will have access to high quality educational courses that support competent clinical practice from early post-registration practice to advanced practitioner/nurse consultant practice

4. The research capacity and output of quality evidence underpinning GI nursing practice and meeting patients' priorities will be expanded

The Burdett Institute of Gastrointestinal Nursing will provide leadership and staff will offer a role model for GI nursing nationally and internationally. The Burdett Institute is for all GI nurses and we would welcome your views and ideas for both teaching and research. We also welcome opportunities for collaboration and are happy to discuss proposed new areas for research. If you have ideas, or if you would like to go onto the mailing list to receive details of courses and events please contact us.
